Our special guest for the whole hour was Rochester Rhinos Chief Soccer Officer Pat Ercoli, who discussed the latest information on the team and its drive to raise $1.3MM by the end of November so the Rhinos can field a team in 2018.  Michael Lewis and Dick Howard also added their insight and questions for Pat.

Dick Howard discussed Italy not making the World Cup for the first time since 1958, the remaining World Cup qualifying matches and this weekend's European club contests.  Michael Lewis previewed the US /Portugal friendly on Tuesday with Rochester Dave Sarachan coaching the US Men and the NASL championship won by San Francisco over the Cosmos, which could be the final match in NASL history.

  • Rochester Rhinos Chief Business Officer Mark Washo, who talked about the partnerships the Rhinos made this season with a number of high profile Rochester businesses, the plans for increasing attendance next season with 34 matches on the schedule and an overview of how the team is doing financially as they start preparations for next season.
  • Rochester Rhinos Head Coach Bob Lilley who talked about the team's season ending 1-0 loss to Louisville City in the USL playoffs, how he felt the team did overall this season, the initial player plans for next year and the parity in the USL in 2017.

Michael Lewis was live from Red Bull Arena and he previewed the MLS East semi-final between the NY Red Bulls and Toronto FC, talked about the other MLS playoff matches that have taken place and gave his thoughts on former Rochester Lancer and Brighton native Dave Sarachan being named the interim US Men's National Team coach. 

Dick Howard also talked about the NY Red Bulls/Toronto FC series and the Vancouver/Seattle MLS West semi-finals, England winning the U17 World Cup, Real Madrid being upset by Girona in La Liga and the big upcoming matches in the UEFA Champions League and the English Premiership.

  • New US Women's International and first team NWSL All-Star McCall Zerboni of the North Carolina Courage, who discussed how she received the call up to the national team and her playing in Sunday's match against South Korea in front of her home fans in Cary, NC.
  • The scorer of the match winning goal in Saturday's Rochester Rhinos win over Charlotte in the USL Playoffs, Stefan DeFregger, who talked about the goal and the Rhinos defense leading them to the win, along with previewing Sunday's USL Eastern Conference semi-finals at top seeded Louisville City. 


Michael Lewis discussed Atlanta United breaking the Cosmos 40 year old US pro soccer season average attendance mark and the MLS single match attendance record in yesterday's 2-2 draw with Toronto FC and Atlanta being awarded the 2018 MLS All-Star Game, plus Michael previewed the MLS playoffs that start on Wednesday.  Dick Howard talked about the firing of former Rhino Mauro Biello as head coach of Montreal, Toronto's and Vancouver's chances in the MLS playoffs, Ronald Koeman getting the sack from Everton and the 2017 FIFA Awards.

Also, we reported that the Rochester River Dogz will host a 3rd Qualifying Round match in the 2018 US Open Cup against Stegman's Soccer Club of Minnesota on the weekend of November 18-19.  If the River Dogz win, they will qualify for the 2018 US Open Cup!

Michael Lewis talked about the lawsuit the NASL filed against US Soccer regarding their demotion to Division 3 for next season and NYCFC looking to build a new stadium at Belmont Park.  Dick Howard talked about Arsenal's important win over West Brom today and previewed the big UEFA Champions League matches this week

We had a special show that commemorated the 40th anniversary of the famous NASL semi-final match between the Rochester Lancers and the Cosmos, who had Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto, Giorgio Chinaglia and Shep Messing.  The match at Holleder Stadium drew over 20,000 fans, still the largest attended team sporting event in Rochester history.

With Andrew on vacation, Rochester Rhinos Wall of Famer Nelson Cupello, a member of the 1977 Lancers, joined Joe Sirianni to reminisce about the season and welcomed former Lancers owner Charlie Schiano, the voice of the Lancers, Wayne Fuller, the captain of the 1977 Lancers, Jim Pollihan, one of the greatest goalkeeper in NASL history, Jack Brand, the son of former Lancers owner the late Pat DiNolfo, the Honorable Vince DiNolfo, NASL All Star Francisco Escos, Lancers defenders Don Droege and Webster native Craig Reynolds and the man who wrote about the match in the Rochester Deomcrat and Chronicle, Michael Lewis.
